Hi guys, I am really bummed about not being at school for this monumental event! A total eclipse will occur on August 21, 2017, and can be seen from several states in the U.S. for the first time in 99 years! This is a once in a lifetime event.
Other countries will not be able to see it live. The International Space Center will air this as well as NASA’s live coverage of the event. If you are interested and you should be…..I have included some links for information about the event and some background solar eclipses.

Our partners at the Science Channell will be capturing every moment of the Great American Eclipse with live coverage on air and online. They will broadcast live in Madras, Oregon –one of the nation’s premier viewing spots –with astronomers and educators, in partnership with the Lowell Observatory. They will also provide live footage from other prime viewing destinations across America –and you’ll even get a glimpse of the eclipse taken from the International Space Station.

Extra Credit Opportunities for 2017 before Day 1: MAKE SURE YOU LABEL WITH YOUR NAME
Option 1
Complete the lesson fully, KWL CHART research and make a viewer bring to school on the first day for extra credit to be used one of the nine weeks where you need it.
Option 2:
Use the lesson plan instructions to complete the following in its entirety. Create your Earth Moon Model and bring with you on the first day of class! You must complete the worksheet as well. The worksheet may be printed, copied on paper with questions and responses, and or Google Doc.

Hi there, for those of you new, I am Ms. Le and I am originally from Fayetteville, N.C.
I went to Campbell University for two years and ultimately received a degree in Biology from Fayetteville State University. I moved to Houston, TX where I resided for four years working in the medical field but eventually returned to N.C. where I call home. I have spent 24 years in the medical field as a medical laboratory manager and a member of the senior nursing staff. I eventually owned and operated a three medical multi-disciplined office. I later went on to be certified in medical Laser Therapy. I love Science and decided I wanted to teach Science to young people as I found there was a need for teachers in the field that have the hands on approach to Science inquiry.
I try to make Science fun while teaching students the state mandated content. I believe in Project Based learning and feel that all students can be successful "Scientists". I look forward to teaching your children this year.
