Ecology and ecosysytems pic

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few weeks we have been extremely busy in our Ecology lesson and students have been working hard. I hope you all are checking Seesaw on a regular basis to view students work. Monday students furthered their study of Abiotic and Biotic factors and how they are interconnected with each other and how they effect food, shelter, and space within an ecosystem.

Yesterday students began to learn about the symbiotic relationships present in an ecosystem. We discussed as a class these relationships and students completed guided notes on my powerpoint to be put in their INB on page 23. Today they will complete a graphic organizer on the different types of organisms in an ecosystem to include producers, consumers, and decomposers. If time permits today they will work with their elbow partners to work on an assignment on symbiotic relationships to ensure they understand the three different types. I put links to assignments in their google classroom as many do not have access to Seesaw at home.

11/13/17 Monday Daze

BITMRAINY

What a day, cold and wet two of my least favorite things! Today students had a quiz on oceans as well as human impact on water quality.  Students need to be studying their flash cards and INBs for their upcoming unit test tentatively scheduled for  Friday.

We had a partial ground zero day today where I assigned students their usernames and passwords for our STEM lab software program. I hope to be in the STEM lab at least by end of week if students can log on and complete their orientation fairly easily.  We will have a guest speaker on Wednesday from the Wilson County Stormwater Dept.  Our speaker will be talking to the kids about point source and nonpoint source pollution and do a demonstration on testing water quality using the indicators students have studied thus far. If you have not completed the flash cards given a few weeks ago on Ecology when I was out, please make sure you have them done uploaded to Seesaw by Friday.

Also parents please join us for our Stem Night on tomorrow evening at 6:00 pm. We will have several stations of hands-on activities from all grade levels. It is sure to be a good night.

See you tomorrow!

Water Quality INB pages

HW assignment: On your own paper answer the three questions be ready to upload to Seesaw and turn in in class your paper copy. Also, both the Water Pollution and Stewardship and the Pollution and Stewardship Review are to be complete and uploaded to Seesaw and paper copy turned into to me. Please remember this is not a one-night homework assignment all of these were given last week in class and students worked in class on these assignments. Some used their class time wisely,  while others did not. Please see the previous posts for these links to those assignments.  Please remember all open-ended questions are to be a level 4 or 5 response written in a complete sentence which restates the question and uses correct grammar and punctuation.

11/1/17 Water Quality and Stewardship

normal_vesistot_happi_enToday we continued our study of water with water quality and stewardship. We began our lesson by watching a video that represents a real-world example of what a good steward is in reference to water quality. Jay Z a famous rap icon, has made a huge impact on Africa and has earned his badge of stewardship. Parents ask your student to tell you about his efforts working with the United Nations.

After my instruction students were given the opportunity to begin their assignment to complete their guided notes using both the powerpoint and video links to complete. They had at least 45 minutes in class to get started and these are due no later than Monday class time. Please check Google Classroom for the PDF and I have checked and updated all video links for you. Please make sure you read and follow all the directions given on the assignment.

Lastly, Math 1 Benchmark is tomorrow, please be on time with a charged device and eat a healthy breakfast. Have a good night and good luck!
